Bonnes vacances à tous! 

It would be a good idea to review some of your more recent learning before the return on January 4th! (Make sure you finished your class work up to the end of p 27 today, too!)

*Re-read some of the stories, or the sentence builders & short texts in your unit books

*On The Language Gym, you can go to Games Room, choose the type of activity and then set the parameters (level of difficulty = primary or beginner), then choose topics or themes that we have been working on in class.

    • Only the ‘assignments’ set by Madame are recorded for accuracy
    • You can play any game you would like in the Games Room without accuracy being recorded

*The Christmas program that we couldn’t watch in class today was this one

To keep your “French brain” active during your two weeks away, please:

  • read your novel
  • review any new vocabulary or structures you may be struggling with
  • consider talking or texting with a friend from class in French!
  • watch some French cartoons or listen to French music
  • complete some assignments or explore the ‘games room’ in The Language Gym

What did we review & practise in class today?

    • We had a pop learning check-in to receive feedback & see how our written French is progressing
    • We reviewed yesterday’s Napoléon story & questions
    • We read the eighth story in the Napoléon series & practised asking/answering questions orally with our partner
    • We reviewed & corrected the activities related to family on p 15-18 in Moi, ma famille & mes amis unit
    • We learned more about placement of describing words (adjectives) in French p 19-20 & completed the sentence work on p 21-22

    • There will be a quick learning check in on Thursday to see what you understand & what you can produce (write) en français on this topic.
  • For a different perspective on forming the past tense in French, watch this video. They make it more fun!
  • Make sure you have read the text ‘La routine des soins personnels’ for pronunciation, new vocabulary and language structures
    • Complete the questions in full sentences

    • We read the seventh story in the Napoléon series & worked through activities to develop comprehension & vocabulary & confidence to retell
    • Some students participated in a grade conference with Madame to discuss & reflect on the term 
    • We reviewed the activities related to family on p 10-14 in Moi, ma famille & mes amis unit
    • Students worked on class assignments in the Language Gym
      • Lots of new ones have been added!

    • We read the sixth story in the Napoléon series & worked through activities to develop comprehension & vocabulary & confidence to retell
    • Half of students participated in a grade conference with Madame to discuss & reflect on the term (These will continue tomorrow)
    • We worked through activities to develop vocabulary related to family p 12-18 in Moi, ma famille & mes amis unit
    • Some students worked on class assignments in the Language Gym

    • Where to put the ‘ne…pas’ in the past tense

    • We completed the interpretive assessment (your understanding) of books 1-4
    • We reflected on all you have learned & have shown you can do so far this quarter
    • We read the fifth story in the Napoléon series & worked through activities to develop comprehension & vocabulary
    • Some students worked on class assignments in the Language Gym

Things to do tonight:

    • Review vocabulary & structures from Napoléon et le chien méchant p 21
      • Remember that there were quite a few in this story! You need to study 🙂
    • Re-read the story here Book 5 Napoléon et le chien méchant
    • Listen to the audio of the story here
    • Complete any unfinished class work about the story on p 22-23
    • Start at the beginning and, using only the pictures, practise retelling stories 1-5
    • Take some time to work on your Language Gym training activities & make note of the ones you have mastered so far

    • Complete p 10 (Describing hair & eyes)  * rasé means shaved in English
    • Practise your IR/RE verb meanings p 44 of your first unit book 
      • Interpretive learning check in tomorrow 🙂

***I have removed some older assignments from The Language Gym, added two new assignments & extended the time for verb trainer assignments until next Wednesday. Please set aside at least 15 minutes a day until you’ve completed all of the assignments with an accuracy rate of the Fully Meeting range (80% or higher)

Today you are continuing to work on using proper structures when communicating in both present & past tenses.

  • First, read the two texts on p 19 – 22 & answer the questions in complete sentences
    • Underline all of the present tense verb structures
    • Circle both parts of the past tense structures
  • Then, review the structure for past tense on p 23-24 & complete exercises 1-4 on p 24-25 
    • For #2, you can change some of the words (The questions are old & we no longer use cassette tapes! You can change that word to “chansons” or “playlist”. Also, you can change la chaîne stéréo to whatever you use for storing your music)

***I have re-configured the longer Language Gym training sessions to 15 minutes (the longest available).

***The assignments posted are set to archive by next Wednesday. I only check off your name when you have completed all of the questions in a set in the Fully Meeting range. 

    • For example:  if you only complete 20/144, you have not completed the activity & I don’t check off your name. 
    • Keep working on them until you can get through all of them within the time limit 🙂
