Bon mercredi les amis!

This morning you are working to prepare for an in-class oral presentation.

At the beginning of your next class, you will be asked to share information about yourself, your family & your friends. Think about the vocabulary and structures you have been working on throughout the course and in this last unit. You may want to include:

  • your name, age, birthday
  • with whom/where you live
  • who is in your family
  • how you & your family are     (describe)
  • how you all get along & what you do    (explain)
  • what you like to eat & why    (describe & explain)
  • who your friends are & what you do with them  

                               ….. and anything else that you have learned that fits with the topic!

  1. You may have your text with you, but you should do your best to practise it so that you are confident saying what you want to say with some expression and eye contact (Not staring at your paper!)
  2. You will not be handing in your text. The assessment will be based on what you say & how you say it.
  3. You should be prepared to answer a couple of questions at the end of your presentation.

You will have an hour and a half (approx) of preparation/practice time before you present tomorrow.

  • You may choose to include props or other things that you need to make your skit easier to follow & understand (or more fun) BUT it is not necessary 
  • You may include some narration to “set the scene” of your skit
  • You may have notes in English so that you remember what/when you are supposed to say your lines

***Tomorrow is your end of French 10 presentational write. Your goal is to communicate on the topic and to show what you can communicate (in writing) at this time. Remember that at this point in your learning, your goal is to:

    • use more than 1 sentence to explain & describe
    • connect sentences
    • include details
    • use more variety of vocabulary & expressions to personalize what you communicate
    • be creative & show as much as you can of what you have learned in French 9 & 10

***To prepare for your summative write, you can

    • review food vocab, describing words for foods, phrases to express what you like/don’t like & why
    • review vocabulary & phrases for describing places
    • review phrases for ordering, paying & complaining
    • review any grammar points and structures you have learned throughout the quarter (tenses … present, past, future with aller + infinitive, il faut + infinitive | use & placement of pronouns & adjectives)

Task #1

  • Go the the Questions Pour Madame channel
  • Reply to Mme’s question using the sentence builder on p 65 of your “Moi, ma famille, mes amis” unit
    • Make sure that you include ‘how often’ 
  • Then, use the expressions from the back of your first unit package to “react” to at least two people & try to share an opinion or provide an explanation (For ex: Me too, I like going to my friends’ houses because it’s fun … Moi aussi, j’aime aller chez des amis parce que c’est amusant.)

Task #2

  • Complete p 67 + review the sentence builder on p 68 + complete p 69
    • This is a good review of weather phrases & allows you to include more detail in your sentences

Task #3

  • Watch this Alice Ayel story
  • Listen for the following info to discuss in your next class
    • How many sisters Marc has & their names
    • What each character adores
    • The big problem & the solution at the end

***Getting a good night of sleep & eating breakfast/lunch is the best thing you can do before an evaluation. Please do not stay up late ‘cramming’ or scrolling through social media. Your French brain doesn’t work as well when it’s exhausted!

We are finishing up the mini unit of household chores!

For tonight:

  • make sure you have completed your class work (the story and questions about Pablo & Fernando on p 14-17)

Remember:

  • Your evaluated conversations on Friday will include vocabulary from the last 3 units (A typical day, Your house, Chores)
    • You are expected to actively engage in conversations with classmates to learn more about their lives
    • To explain, describe & include more detail, try to use unit vocabulary, describing words, time words, and connecting words
  • Your “Là où je dors” video is due by Friday morning
  • You will have a quick learning check-in for the first 50 essential verbs in past tense on Friday before the conversations begin (past tense for ‘je’ & meaning of the word)
