• summarize – not retell the entire story
• organize your thoughts in paragraphs
• use transition words and connectives
• pay close attention to tense  
• challenge yourself to explain and describe (especially your thoughts, opinions & connections)
• refer to the handout & examples for writing a literary critique AND the ‘level up’ package for language structures/vocab

• Highlight one phrase or expression from each section & set an objective to use those phrases during conversations while we work through the unit

I hope you are enjoying the novel so far and that you have finished reading up to the end of Chapitre 3.

Your task for this afternoon is to record a short video in which you discuss (en français, bien sûr!)

• your first impressions of the story
• a brief summary of what has happened so far
• a prediction of what might happen later 

1. You will submit your video to Teams. 
2. Please do not write a paragraph & then read the text to me. Treat this like a discussion with me in class.
3. Jot down your ideas in point form if you feel you need to organize your thoughts first 
4. Please do not use a translator. Use the language that you already know to express yourself. 
5. Please submit your video by 4:00 today at the latest.

Lastly…. if you haven’t signed in to French 12 on The Language Gym, please do. I have posted two verb practice activities for you. The due date says Sunday, but please complete them before class on tomorrow.

Bonjour les amis!

To be ready for your virtual Wednesday task, please finish reading chapters 1, 2 & 3 before then.

To help to reinforce the new vocabulary and language structures, I recommend that you

• practise reading aloud for pronunciation (you can always Google a word and listen to the pronunciation if you are not sure how to say it)
• read silently to work through comprehension
• take notes of structures & what they mean (the way that you did with le petit Nicolas story)
• make a list of the most essential vocabulary to retell the story 

***REMINDER:  Please don’t read ahead!

*** Check the blog by 1:30 on Wednesday

• Listen to Alice Ayel tell the story of “Le lion et la sours” 
• Answer the questions on p 9
• Listen to Alice Ayel talk about Jean de la Fontaine & his life
• Take notes on p 10

Then, for homework …

1. Re-tell (en français, bien sûr) a favourite fable that you remember reading or being told as a child

• • Divide a sheet of paper into 6 squares and sketch out part of the story in each box. 
  • Write a couple of sentences in each square to re-tell the story
  • You will share your stories with partners on Monday

• • OR … create a fable of your own using the style of Jean de la Fontaine as a guide!
    • Follow the rest of the guidelines above
    • Try to personalize your fable by thinking of lessons that you have learned so far in life

               ***Pay close attention to your use of the past tense

               ***Level up! … Incorporate some structures/phrases from Le Petit Nicolas story
