Pronouns, prepositions & basic verbs – assessment tomorrow 🙂

The assessment is focused on using prepositions, pronouns and basic verbs in simple sentences.

There is:

  • a section that is fill in the blank (prepositions)   ex.  Ma soeur habite ___ moi.  (far from)
    • Review the prepositions you practised on p 4-7
  • a section in which you write simple sentences in French that include prepositions needed for cities & countries and basic verbs (ex. Vancouver is in Canada.  =  Vancouver est au Canada. )
    • Review p 8-9
  • a section in which you re-write French sentences by replacing the bolded words with the correct pronoun. (ex. J’aime beaucoup la chanson.  =  Je l’aime.)
    • Review your practice work on p 12, 14, 18 & the long handout (that wasn’t included in your booklet)
    • You can see a visual reminder of the order of pronouns on p 17
  • a section that is fill in the blank (pronouns) as you practised on the long sheet

  • finished reading Chapter 5 & wrote a two sentence summary (past tense) that includes as much detail as possible
  • wrote 9 questions to ask a partner about helping out at home
    • 3 for what they regularly do (usually, always, generally, etc)
    • 3 for what they did (yesterday, last weekend, last week, etc)
    • 3 for what they are going to do (tonight, tomorrow, next weekend, etc)
  • Carefully reviewed the sentence builder for ‘Describing My House’ on p 46 & completed the practice on p 47

***We will be finishing the unit this week. To prepare for the end of unit assessment, you can review & practise

Make sure that you completed the practice in class with asking questions & nationalities on p 73-74

***End of Unit assessments are scheduled for this week & will include a little of everything you have learned so far. We will discuss this in more detail tomorrow, but see below for what you need to be able to do with the map of the world.

What should you know/be able to do (regarding the map and French-speaking countries)

  • label the continents in French + Canada & USA
  • list European French-speaking countries
  • tell where the majority of French speakers in the world live
  • tell how many countries in the world have French as one of their official languages
  • list some of the French-speaking countries of Africa (Aim for at least 10 … or more to extend)

Make sure that you

  • finished reading Chapter 4 & wrote 2-3 sentences to summarize what happened
  • used some of the “tâches ménagères” vocab on p 40 to explain what you do to help at home on p 41
