Tuesday, February 20 , 2024

FR 11  Block 2

To be ready for this week

We will continue working on your end of unit project each day this week

You may choose to do some work at home but …

REMEMBER

  • Do NOT write paragraphs in English and then try to translate to French.
  • Brainstorm or plan basic ideas & structure of your project in point form first.
  • Then, start writing your ideas in more detail in French.
  • Use your unit booklets as a resource … NOT a translator!
    • A translator (or asking a friend who is in Immersion or is a native speaker) will result in a lower grade because it shows that you are not able to communicate at the level that is expected. Looking up phrases or relying on others for your sentences is a minimally meeting or emerging level skill.
  • You should check your spelling, verb structures and use of vocabulary
  • If you have to look up any vocabulary words (NOT full sentences with structures you have never learned!), you MUST include them in the glossary (le glossaire) & be prepared to explain them (in French) to partners. Maximum of 10 words allowed.

FR 9  Block 3

Review the ‘avoir expressions’ (starting on p 34)

***Learning Check-In is tomorrow! You will be writing sentences in French.

FR 11  Block 2

To be ready for next week

Make sure that you complete the practice to finish the unit

  • p 57 #1, 2, 5, 6
  • p 58 # 11, 13
  • p 59 # 14, 15, 16
  • p 60 # 17
  • p 61 #21, 23, 24

Start thinking about your end of unit project for “Qui suis-je?”  & collecting what you will need.

You will be given class time each day next week to work independently.

Brainstorming ideas over the weekend will enable you to come to class prepared to work. Bring any supplies you might want to use in class. Start looking for/organizing your visuals.

  • You will be creating a book or timeline of your life with an emphasis on culture & the experiences and people that have shaped your identity. Each page must include text & visuals. You may print copies of personal photos, draw, use visuals found online, in magazines, etc, that support your text (ex. images of food, books, movies, places …)
  • Your text will show learning of French 9, 10 and 11 vocabulary and language structures
    • Emphasis on being able to use the past & present tenses accurately (possibly a few future or conditional phrases)
    • Emphasis on French 11 expectations (especially well-connected sentences, more description and sequencing of events)
  • The visuals you choose should
    • enhance the message
    • provide opportunity to share extra details that aren’t in the text
    • help your partners to understand what you want to share (when you use them in partner conversations)
    • add to the overall aesthetic and creativity demonstrated in your project

Consider the following as you prepare

    • What connections have you made between your daily life and culture? What details can you share about your culture that are part of your daily life?
    • What details can you share about ‘deep culture’ or the more ‘invisible aspects’ of culture that shape your life?
    • What experiences have influenced the person you are today?
    • What words will you use to describe yourself to others? What examples can you give to support your word choices?
    • Who has had an impact on you? In what ways?
    • What stories do you feel comfortable sharing about yourself, your family and your experiences and interests? Why are those stories important to you?
    • What questions can you ask others to help them to share their stories with you?
