TO BE READY FOR TOMORROW & THIS WEEK
For tomorrow
- Make sure you completed the reading & interpretive work in class on p 38-43
To use in conversations on Thursday/Friday, make a list of thought-provoking questions to
-
- discuss thoughts/opinions about the importance of preserving or being knowledgeable about history (of your family, your country, your culture, the world in general)
- ask about a favourite fable & its moral and discuss its relevance in the world today & your personal connection to it
- talk about what makes someone a hero & find out if your partner has a hero (historical or current) & why
- share info you’ve learned about castles in France, how they changed through time & how they are used today
- compare the advantages & disadvantages of life in a castle vs. life today (in a house, apartment, etc)
- compare general life today with life in past times (try to elicit positives & negatives from each time … think about education, dress, family life, work, etc)
- discuss what you would or could do then vs now
You MUST do some quick research to find out the following
- How many castles still exist in France today
- How castles changed between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance
Then,
- Find a castle with an interesting history, surprising current use or something else that you like
- Screen shot 2-3 photos & jot down 3-5 interesting facts about it (along with its name & location)
Then,
- Briefly jot down the basics of a fable you recall from childhood & find out who was the original author
- Make a list of any words that you might need to look up to retell this story
