For class today, students

  • learned the language structure for talking about what people did for themselves on p 20
  • practised using the structure with activities 20-25 on p 21

To be ready for class next week

  • continue to review the unit concepts & vocabulary
  • practise the 50 essential verbs meanings & ‘je’ form

***50 essential verbs learning check-in –  Tuesday, April 12th

***End of unit writing & interpretive assessments – Wednesday & Thursday, April 13th-14th

Français 11 Team

The Language Gym

For class today, students

  • reviewed yesterday’s interpretive work & pronunciation of new vocab 
  • shared their paragraphs from p 37 with partners & received feedback
  • continued interpretive reading on p 38-41 & completed the activities on p 42-43

To be ready for class next week

  • bring your ‘Un Royaume en danger’ package to class on Monday
  • make sure class work is complete
  • review texts & unit booklet for new vocabulary & comprehension … end of unit interpretive is scheduled for Thursday, April 14th

***Castle research will be shared on Wednesday/Thursday next week

  • take notes in English, but be prepared to discuss in French
  • save screenshots to your phone to make your conversation with partners more interesting
  • make a point of using unit vocab & structures
  • important objectives of Fr 11 are
    • to be able to use more than one sentence to explain and describe
    • to be able to connect sentences
    • to personalize communication & use a wider variety of expressions & vocabulary

To be ready for class next week

  • Write a paragraph (or so) about Louis Cyr – the film, the children’s book & the research you did about him
  • Challenge yourself to take some risks to use new vocabulary & structures
  • use the questions we already discussed & any other relevant opinions or facts to guide your text
    • What did you find out that was not included in or differs from the film about his life? 
    • What words do you need to be able to speak or write with some detail?
    • What phrases could you use to share your opinions about parts of the story or the film in general?
    • In what ways is the film representative of French-Canadian history and culture?
    • In what ways do you think that Louis Cyr was a hero or person to look up to? Why?
    • In your opinion, what makes someone a hero or role-model?
